Alexandre Oliveira, CRPC®
Founder | Managing Principal
Alexandre Oliveira is an independent, investment, tax planning, and financial opportunity specialist dedicated to providing common sense strategies to today’s complex financial issues. As the Founder and Managing Principal of Olive Tree Wealth, his goal is to assist his clients in reaching financial independence and then managing their resources after retirement. Alex believes in building lasting relationships with his clients and providing them with the financial confidence they need to pursue their short-term and long-term financial goals.
Alex provides comprehensive financial planning on a fee basis. He has experience in retirement planning, tax management, college funding, and estate planning for future wealth preservation and transfer.
Featured in Boston Magazine, Alex is a Five Star Wealth Manager award winner (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021)*. This prestigious award is based on 10 objective criteria associated with providing services to clients such as credentials, experience, and assets under management among other factors. In 2021, only 12% of candidates in the Greater Boston area were designated Five Star Wealth Managers (Boston Magazine, February 2021).

He has also developed an institutional side of the practice and has strategic partnerships with Naveo Credit Union and Alltrust Credit Union, both Massachusetts-based institutions. Through this partnership he provides guidance and investment services to the credit union and its members.
Active in the community, Alex is a Board Member and a Past Club President of the Waltham Lions Club. He is also a frequent contributor to the Waltham Boys and Girls Club.
Prior to founding Olive Tree Wealth, Alex graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
When Alex is not working with his clients, he participates in a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking and soccer. He also enjoys traveling, domestically and abroad, and is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.
Alex, his wife, Siobhan, and their son, Roman, currently reside in Cohasset, Massachusetts, with their Wheaten Terrier, Franklin.

Andrew T. Doughty, CFP®, CIMA®
Financial Planning Support
Andrew T. Doughty, CFP®, CIMA® has been working with Olive Tree Wealth since 2013. He brings great knowledge and a thorough understanding of the financial services industry and the challenges clients face. Andrew provides technical support and financial planning services to the firm including research, data entry, and financial analysis construction.
Prior to joining the firm, Andrew served as a paraplanner in Orlando, FL, where he provided day-to- day service to clients, while also driving the investment due diligence process, wholesaler interaction and financial planning support. He started his career in the financial services industry as an analyst with an independent financial planning firm in Massachusetts. He earned his BA in Finance from Gordon College in Wenham, MA.
Andrew resides in Concord, NH with his wife, Chelsea.
Gary Sullivan, CPA, CFP®
VP of Client Relations
Gary Sullivan is VP of Client Relations for Olive Tree Wealth, having merged his practice in 2023. He brings more than 30 years of financial planning experience working with individuals, families and businesses.
As an advisor, Gary crafted investment tax and family-sensitive wealth strategies, specializing in the areas of estate planning, asset protection and retirement planning that were responsive to client objectives. He combined broad tax and multi-generational experience to develop and implement personalized wealth creation and preservation techniques.
Today, his role includes being the primary liaison between clients and the rest of the team to ensure that Olive Tree’s stated service models are being adhered to. He is also solely responsible for business development in the pre-retiree/retirement segment, which is the primary demographic of the firm. He has extensive networks and relationships with existing clients as well as several centers of influence that allow Olive Tree to continue to grow.
He has a Certified Public Accountant designation and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ professional.
Gary received his public accounting experience at BDO , LLC, an international tax consulting and professional services firm. On the financial planning side, Gary founded his own firm, Landmark Wealth Advisors and had tenure at AEW Capital Management, as a pension fund advisor. Gary holds a B.S. degree in Accountancy from Bentley University and earned his MBA in Finance and Investments at the University of Texas, where he was a Sord Scholar.
Ruth Etelmen-Smith
Administrative Assistant
Ruth Etelman-Smith provides essential administrative and client service support for the practice, assisting both Alex and Sarah with a range of day-to-day responsibilities. Her duties include coordinating communications, preparing and sending client mailings, and managing client touches such as birthday cards. A valued member of the team, Ruth contributes to the organization and efficiency that keeps the practice running seamlessly.
With an impressive 35 years of experience in financial services, Ruth brings industry knowledge and perspective to her role. Prior to joining the team 17 years ago, she worked in trust administration at a large local bank, where she developed a strong foundation in client-focused financial operations.
Outside of the office, Ruth enjoys reading, doing puzzles, walking, and spending time with her family. She lives in New Boston, New Hampshire, with her husband, Will, and she has one child.
